GCH *Silver* Karaboudjan’s Mystic Moonspell
Beginnings
Shazam was bred and owned by Janet Dotson of Karaboudjan Anatolians in Southern California. He achieved his first major win at only 6 months of age (pictured to the left). Shazam lived with goats and a pet pig at home, and was shown by Ric Plaut.
Life
Shazam lived a full life. He was a dutiful worker and an outstanding show dog. He made an impression on everyone he met, and was Natalie’s favorite dog to visit at Janet’s property. He was Janet’s first Westminster Kennel Club invitee, and he was a top performer in the breed in 2015 & 2016.
Legacy
Shazam was bred to Jyn via frozen semen/artificial insemination. He has one son, Shamz, living with Janet now, co-owned with Natalie. CH Apex S.J Sol Invictus finished his Championship at 8 months old after winning a “Best Puppy in Show” at 4 months. We have high hopes for Shamz!
Temperament/Personality
He had great balance between grit and tenderness. Stable in public and at home.
Color/Size
Shazam was a gray fawn, black mask dog with an impressively large head.
Favorite Things
Shazam was Natalie’s favorite Karaboudjan dog for many years because he was extremely typey, and excelled in his work.
#2 Anatolian Shepherd Dog in 2015 – Breed
Shazam was the second-highest winning Anatolian Shepherd dog in 2015 in breed statistics.
He was invited to Westminster Kennel Club in 2016.
He achieved his Grand Champion Silver title.
Legacy at Apex
We had a litter from Jyn by Shazam in 2024, resulting in two male puppies. Apex S.J Sol Invictus at Karaboudjan Shamz lives with Janet in California, co-owned by Janet and Natalie. He finished his AKC Championship title at 8 months old over some very nice specials!
Severine’s last litter was by Zeus, a Shazam son. We are retaining the female Apex Z.S Moonspell Mimic Mimi from that litter to carry on her dam’s line here, and we are so pleased that she very much resembles Shazam.
