The Canine Health Information Center, also known as CHIC, is a centralized canine health database jointly sponsored by the AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). CHIC, working with participating parent clubs, provides a resource for breeders and owners of purebred dogs to research and maintain information on the health issues prevalent in specific breeds.

Apex Anatolians performs CHIC required minimum breed-specific health testing on every breeding dog! For the Anatolian Shepherd Dog, current CHIC required tests are HIPS and ELBOWS. Not one or the other- both.

BUYER BEWARE
Some breeders consider their dogs “health tested” when they run a DNA swab. Technically, a DNA swab contains multiple health marker tests- but there are currently NO recommended DNA tests for the Anatolian Shepherd Dog breed. This is why it is important for you as a buyer to be informed on what is and isn’t appropriate minimum health testing for the breed you’re considering investing in!
